Capability Showcase

Expedition Ice Maiden

The British Army’s Ice Maidens, the first all-female team to cross Antarctica using muscle power alone, will deliver a capability showcase at Medical Innovation 2018 to demonstrate state-of-the-art physiological monitoring sensor technologies used during the expedition.

They will discuss their participation in a collaborative research project that monitored their physical performance for the duration of the 61 day expedition. The physiological monitoring kit recorded data that was successfully transmitted back to a UK operations base using commercially available technology. The potential benefits of this proof of concept to the wider healthcare community will be discussed during the conference.
